HIKE NOTES
This hike reaches up behind the giant Njupeskär Waterfall, situated in the Fulufjällets National Park to the beautiful lake system above. The walk is an ideal reconnaissance tour to get a taste of the area to return and join one of our longer treks through this zone and the added opportunities for camping and fishing for trout and char. We walk past the high lakes of Rörsjöarna and Harrsjön and also make a diversion to the world's oldest tree, a Spruce discovered and analysed in 2008 by carbon 14 dating to be a record 9,550 years old.

Yxningåfallen

HIKE NOTES
The day trip to Yxningåfallen north of Särna requires specialist guiding. We begin along the road to a very old summer farm, the first of the day and soon the terrain becomes wild as we start trekking through deep canyons. Look out for bear dens or fresh bear tracks and traverse around natural springs until arriving at a series of spectacular ‘waterfalls . Here we spend quality time, re-energising, enjoying the beauty and taking lunch before setting off into the evening, looking out along the way for moose, wolves and lynx along the way.

Göljån & Lissåvallen Summer Farm

View landscape reshaped after natural phenomenon in 1997 in the Fulufjällets National Park followed by a traditional eating experience in the fire house and gardens of a beautiful old summer farm near the nature catastrophe area.

HIKE NOTES
The area of Göljån was devastated by a tsunami affect that followed a giant storm that hit the east side of Mt Fulufjället between August 30-31,1997. A natural phenomenon of this kind has not occurred in recent natural history, and probably not since the age of the Vikings. Keep an eye out for elk, wolf, lynx, wolverine and many species of birds on this trip - the Siberian Jay and the year round local - - the big black Lagopus.

HIKE NOTES
A very healthy and fun day for the whole family, starting on the main lake of Särna. A combination canoe and walking experience, this hike takes you to some breathtaking reaches of the Osterdaläven and Fjätan Rivers. Spying for eagles and the activity of other water birds, we head towards the picturesque Fjätfallen, where we eat and rest by gentle cascading waterfalls and lounge on the mossy floor of the surrounding green forest before heading back.

HIKE NOTES
Altarringen is Sweden's highest altar. The Sami - native peoples of Scandinavia considered this a holy place; family groups for many years also made a yearly pilgrimige from Norway and Sweden to meet and congregate here in prayer. These days, cuckoos can still be found nesting on the alpine heaths, you can observe birds like the Ring Ouzel, Lapland Longspur and birds of prey - hawk and owl. Many years ago, the location was also believed to be used to capture falcons for hunting and sold throughout the Middle East.

This hike begins at Grovelsjön near the Norweigan border. This is high country, wild and exposed to all the elements, including rapid changes in climate and temperature. We ask you to bring a warm jacket and pants, rain coat and a good mood. An experience you will not regret.
